RIFFIT is LIVE in the App Store (and here’s why you should download it)
This blog will explain why every parent who wants to help their children learn through music should download it and give it a try.
What is RIFFIT?
RIFFIT has created the world's first real-time text-to-song generation platform that integrates the proven capabilities of musical therapy into an affordable and personalized solution to facilitate understanding and remembering written and spoken words.
How can RIFFIT improve learning?
People with dyslexia and other learning disabilities have difficulty reading and writing. Recent advances in systems neuroscience have elucidated the brain systems involved in language production and comprehension, and how they are influenced by listening to music. When someone interprets music, the right, or creative side of the brain, becomes integrated with the language comprehension areas in the left brain. As a result, language comprehension through music allows individuals with neurological conditions to better function in their world.
How does the RIFFIT application actually work?
Simply input text (pdf, word, jpeg, etc.,) into our App, pick your favorite musical genre and in real time listen to your song. After analyzing the text, the RIFFIT algorithm produces in real time a personalized song for the user to listen to. This helps activate the users’ brainpower to comprehend and retain information in a fun and engaging way.
Why Now?
Homeschooling throughout the pandemic has led many parents to realize their child is struggling to read and write because of their dyslexia. So, how can a child with dyslexia learn to read, write and comprehend?
How can music help in the learning of people with dyslexia?
Recent research suggests that there have been statistically significant improvements in children with learning disabilities, when periodically trained and taught through musical therapy. Further research indicates that music therapy enhanced dyslexia affected children’s phonemic awareness, which is crucial for developing effective reading.
Neurological studies have shown that when people with dyslexia are provided applications to learn through music therapy, the right hemisphere’s neurotransmitters transmit and trigger neural responses in the brain’s left hemisphere. Several case studies suggest that frequent and enough stimulation from the brain’s right hemisphere causes the left hemisphere’s normal functioning. This is why children with dyslexia, when put through music therapy sessions, develop an easier understanding of words and find reading easier than before.
The RIFFIT App
RIFFIT is now live on the App Store. Within minutes you can be signed up and create your own songs! It doesn’t take loads of space on your device and is user-friendly for all ages. Choose your preferred genre, and start listening to text from your favorite books, newspapers, magazines, and sources of all kinds.
This is also a chance to have your voice be heard. Submit feedback about your experience directly through the app to help the RIFFIT team make improvements and add exciting new features. We here at RIFFIT want to make this more than just an app, we want it to be a life-changing experience for every person with dyslexia and aphasia.
Conclusion
Over one billion adolescents and adults worldwide suffer from neurological conditions that interfere with their ability to read or understand spoken language. While reading and writing are an essential tool in our education process, we have ignored that these tools are not generally compatible with learning for a large population. RIFFIT will enable this population, improving communication and learning, thereby enhancing quality of life. RIFFIT is the brainchild of a group of accomplished scientists and serial entrepreneurs: Dr. Lex Van der Ploeg, Dr. Sheila DeWitt and Deepak Savadatti.
